Industrial mogul, owner and founder of chemical engineering giant Osborn Industries, and philanthropist, Norman Osborn suffers a hideous personality change during a chemical experiment gone terribly wrong. As The Goblin, Osborn seeks to control all of the crime organizations in New York, in his insatiable lust for power. This thusts him squarely in the path of Spider-Man and he becomes the wall-crawler's arch-nemesis.
Norman is also the father of Peter's best friend, Harry Osborn. After a monumental battle at one of Osborn's industrial facilities, The Goblin is defeated and Norman is seriously injured. He goes into a coma, before waking months later, with amnesia and no memory of the Goblin. Because he is Peter's friends father, Spider-Man keeps his ghastly alter-ego a secret.
